Course Description

Provided to you by cdlpermit.study, this hazardous material course helps commercial drivers comply with new entry-level driver training requirements (ELDT), while also reviewing questions found in the Department of Motor Vehicle's hazardous materials knowledge exam. 

Once a student completes the twelve (12) unit online course (must pass each quiz with an 80% or higher), their certificate of completion will be uploaded to the Department of Transportation's Training Provider Registry (TPR). Once uploaded, the student will receive an email confirmation of the upload and a PDF study guide of the test questions and answers. 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to take this course.

Hazardous Materials Endorsement Requirements

The hazardous materials (H) endorsement is required to operate a vehicle that contains hazardous materials. To apply for an H endorsement on your CDL, you will need to meet the following: 

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident
• Have held a commercial learners permit (CLP) and/or a temporary commercial license, or valid CDL license.
• Pass a knowledge test for H endorsement at your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
• Complete and pass a Federal Security Threat Assessment. You can book your background check here: TSA

Hazardous Materials Endorsement Exam

Once you have completed and passed the ELDT hazardous material online course, you will be eligible to take the hazardous materials knowledge exam at your local DMV. This exam is 30 questions and must be passed with an 80% or higher. At the completion of your course, you will be emailed a hazardous materials study guide (PDF) to help you pass your exam.
